Q37 – VRATARNICA, YUGOSLAVIA, 1 October 1944: In the
shadow of the Danube's Iron Gates, as WWII's tides turn in the Balkans,
the 7th SS-Mountain Division Prinz Eugen faces a critical confrontation.
On October 1, 1944, amidst fierce combat at Vratarnica, its desperate
attempt to secure a vital bridgehead against Bulgarian forces becomes a
brutal test of strategy and endurance.

advance northwest of Liège, Belgium. With Belgian forces in disarray and
the strategic route to Liège compromised, the stage was set for a
dramatic German push that would reshape the battle lines of Western
Europe.

Panzer-Pionier Battalion and the 304th Panzergrenadier Regiment clashed
with the steadfast defenders of Company B, 110th Regiment, U.S. 28th
Infantry Division, in a battle for control of Marnach. With both sides
entrenched, the Germans' attempt to break through with flamethrowers and
explosives met fierce resistance, setting the stage for a pivotal
confrontation on the road to Bastogne.

French-defended town of Saint Pouçin. Racing through mortar fire and
armoured cars, the Germans surged into the town, but a fierce French
stand and the destruction of a vital bridge turned the tide, setting the
stage for a brutal, close-quarters fight.

and machine-gun nests, with heroic leadership keeping the American
advance alive as they pushed toward their crucial objective before dawn.

Stuka bombs, the beleaguered defenders mounted a valiant last stand,
highlighting extraordinary courage in the face of overwhelming odds,
ultimately marking a heroic, albeit tragic, chapter in the battle's
history.
